Canadian School Counsellor Magazine is proud to announce the establishment of the Trevor H. Shirtliff Difference-Makers Scholarship. This scholarship is in memory of and honours Canadian School Counsellor Magazine’s founder, Trevor H. Shirtliff.
Trevor himself exemplified the term difference-maker in his community and had a passion for guiding youth. Trevor was very involved with his church’s youth groups and was an inspiration to his friends, family, and employee’s in the way he dedicated his time to making a positive difference in the lives of at-risk or underprivileged groups in his community. Trevor devoted much of his time and energy to working closely with youth, often taking them on excursions, many of which were centered around being active in the outdoors within their communities. His memory will be honored by awarding the Trevor H. Shritliff scholarship to Canada’s youth who strive to make a difference in their community, just as Trevor did.
We are inviting guidance counsellors to nominate a student in their school that work’s diligently to improve and strengthen the quality of life for themselves, their peers, and their community. Selections will be based on academic achievement, integrity, leadership, and creativity as evidenced by contributions in the classroom and/or in the broader community.
Nominees will be eligible for Trevor H. Shirtliff Difference Maker Scholarships being awarded throughout the year that recognize a difference maker for their leadership potential and extracurricular activities within their school and their community. This award may be used for part-time or full-time undergraduate courses, accredited degrees, or certificate programs, including online schools.
