Maria DiFlavio

COUNSELLOR:
Elvira Beltrame-Presta

SCHOOL:
Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School

CITY:
Grimsby, ON

Maria is currently our student body president. She is a young lady who has been involved in the school community since gr. 9 as our junior female representative on council. And this commitment has grown over the years culminating as president. She goes out of her way to help her council come up with fun and exciting events and more importantly, events that give back to the community. For that reason, Maria is spearheading our Relay for Life events here at Blessed Trinity. She took it upon herself to recruit staff members and students to form a committee and begin the fundraising process. She has also completed community service hours that far exceed the 40 hour mininum. In fact, she has currently completed 181 hours with a variety of different organizations including, but not limited to, Pelham Panthers hockey, her church choir, our school's annual Pilgrimage in support of the community of Las Pajas in the Dominican Republic and the Town of Grimsby Leaders in Training program.

She is a kind, helpful, friendly, polite, hardworking and commited young lady with strong leadership qualities that improve the lives of her fellow students. She consistently seeks to always put a smile on all those she comes in contact with on a daily basis.

It is without reservation that I recommend Maria DiFlavio as a nominee for the Trevor Shirtliff Difference Maker Scholarship.
